Building a Sustainable Future: Stakeholder Coalition Urges MEPs to Support EPBD Compromise

On the 9th March, the World Green Building Council and other organisations published an open letter urging Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to support the cross-party compromise on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that was approved by the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) on 9 February 2023.

This joint letter, cosigned by PU Europe, argues that the ITRE compromise agreement represents a fair and balanced deal that will deliver benefits such as tackling climate change, improving the quality of buildings for EU citizens, creating green jobs, decreasing dependence on Russian gas, and bringing EU citizens out of energy poverty.

The EPBD revision is critical for driving progress towards a sustainable and carbon-neutral future for Europe, and we are hopeful that the compromise agreement will receive strong support from MEPs in the plenary vote on 14 March 2023.

The letter is now available here.
