Open letter for a higher energy efficiency target in the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) recast

Ten EU associations – including PU Europe – have sent an open letter sent on 13th December to EU legislators revising the EED asking them to seize this historic opportunity to raise the ambition, ensure energy security and affordable bills.

A high energy efficiency target represents an economic opportunity that must not be overlooked, as a recent study confirms that well-designed energy efficiency policies can create significant macro-economic benefits.

Therefore, this letter calls for the setting of a 14.5% target for energy efficiency in 2030, binding both for primary and final energy consumption and binding national contributions.
