Valencia fire on the 22nd of February 2024 – PU Europe statement

PU Europe expresses heartfelt condolences to the individuals and families affected by the tragic fire which broke out in a building block in Valencia, Spain, on the 22nd of February.

Since reference was made on the day of this tragedy to PU insulating products having contributed to the spread of the fire on the façade, we would like to highlight that the person[1] who made that statement did change it the day after.

To date, there is no evidence of polyurethane on the façade of the burned building.

As all other stakeholders involved in the construction sector, we await for the outcomes of the investigation to clarify facts and bring learnings about high-rise building facades.
